Official Visit of the new Shipping Deputy Minister

Following a relevant invitation on the occasion of her recent assumption of duties, the new Shipping Deputy Minister, Mrs. Marina Hadjimanolis had an official meeting, on 13 March 2023, with the Cyprus Shipping Chamber’s Board of Directors, at the Chamber’s office, in Limassol.

Taking the opportunity of the curtesy meeting, the Chamber briefed the Shipping Deputy Minister about the current issues affecting the Cyprus Shipping Industry and its immediate needs. Among others matters, it emphasized the need for the further upgrade of the services offered to the Shipping Industry with the immediate creation of a specialised “One-Stop-Shipping-Centre” at the Shipping Deputy Ministry, the complete digitalisation of the Shipping Ministry and the implementation of the Bill for the formation of a Cyprus Shipping Company with Limited Liability, so that the Cyprus Maritime Administration can become even more competitive.

At the same time, an update was given on the ongoing decarbonisation efforts of Shipping and the long-standing issue of the Turkish Embargo on Cyprus ships.

Following a constructive discussion, Mrs. Hadjimanolis stressed the importance that the Maritime Administration places on the long-lasting and multifaceted support received by the Shipping Chamber and stated that the Government will offer its complete support on all matters discussed.

Finally, the Shipping Chamber expressed its warmest wishes for a successful term of office to Mrs. Hadjimanolis and its intention to further strengthen the already close cooperation with the Shipping Ministry, aiming for even more positive results.
