Director General: Mr. Thomas A. Kazakos

The Director General is responsible for the overall supervision of the Secretariat’s work and staff, as well as, organises and follows up the work of the Board of Directors.  Acts as the Chamber’s main lobbyist with Government Ministries, Members of Parliament/Political Parties, as well as represents the Chamber at local professional bodies (e.g. OEB, KEBE).  Deals with European Union shipping policy issues and represents the Chamber at various Committees of international / regional shipping organisations (ICS, ECSA) and the EU/EMSA.  Furthermore, together with the Chamber President, acts as the Chamber’s main Press/Media Spokesperson.

Deputy Director General / Marine Manager: Mr. Alexandros Josephides

As Deputy Director General, deputises for the Director General on external Chamber matters and Secretariat issues.  As Marine Manager, he is responsible for technical, marine, environmental, manning and training issues.  Oversees the work of the Marine Officer and the Technical Officer and, where appropriate, the work of the Legal Affairs Manager.  Represents the Chamber at local and international / regional fora (ICS, ECSA) on technical matters and participates at IMO meetings.  He is the “IMO Maritime Ambassador” for Cyprus for the promotion of maritime and seafaring careers and carries out relevant presentations at schools and career fairs.

Legal Affairs Manager: Mr. Sophoclis Constantinou

Responsible for legal and legislative matters affecting the Chamber, as well as for the Employment, Labour and Social Affairs, the Taxation, Finance and Legal, the Commercial Operations and Trade Facilitation, the Marine Insurance and the Ports, Passenger Ship and Cruise Tourism Committees.  Assists also the Director General on shipping legal/policy issues and represents the Chamber on a number of committees with Governmental departments, Semi-Governmental Organisations, other local professional bodies and international/regional shipping organisations (ICS, ECSA, EU, ILO).

Marine Officer: Mr. Chrysostomos Efthymiou

Coordinates the Manning and Training, the Digitalisation, the Offshore Activities and the Educational Activities Committees. Liaises with Governmental and other professional bodies on marine related matters affecting the Chamber.  Represents the Chamber at career fairs and delivers career presentations at schools for the further promotion of maritime and seafaring careers and administers the Chamber’s “Adopt a Ship” Programme.  Responsible also for IT matters affecting the Chamber’s Secretariat. Until the position of the “Technical Officer” is filled with a suitable candidate, he has undertaken the responsibilities and duties of the “Technical Officer”.

Technical Officer

Responsible for the Chamber’s environmental, safety and security issues at European and international level.  Coordinates the Marine and the Technical and Environment Advisory, as well as the Health, Safety and Environment Committees.  Acts as liaison with Governmental, in particular with the Shipping Deputy Ministry and other professional bodies, on shipping technical matters affecting the Chamber and participates at IMO Committee meetings.  Responsible for the office Quality Management procedures.

Communications Officer: Ms. Ifigenia Pasanta

Responsible for the Chamber’s Communication Policy, as well as assists the Director General in implementing the Chamber’s Lobbying Policy.  In charge of the Chamber’s website and social media networks and liaises with local and international shipping/mainstream media outlets, as well as represents the Chamber at the ICS and ECSA Communication Committees. Produces internal and external communication and promotional material/input for the Chamber and its business and social functions and arranges the Chamber’s press conferences. Co-responsible with the Events and Members Administrator for the Chamber’s Events, Media and CSR Committee. Handles also CYMEPA’s Green Office Certification Programme.

Events & Members Administrator: Ms. Lefki Panayiotidou

Responsible for the organisation of the Chamber’s business and social functions (e.g. Annual General Meeting, Member Meetings, Charity Beach Volley Tournament, Blood Donation Drives) and the Chamber’s  Events, Media and CSR Committee.  Responsible also for the admission of new Members, as well as follows matters pertaining to Member Relations.

Management & Office Administrator: Ms. Amalia Kyriacou

Provide personal assistance to and handle correspondence on behalf of the Director General.  Ensure smooth running of the Chamber’s office by managing agendas / internal / external meetings, travel arrangements, coordinating office requests, emails, and telephone calls, as well as, assist in the execution of Chamber events and functions.

Provide personal assistance to and handle correspondence on behalf of the Director General.  Responsible for office administrative support, maintaining and coordinating office calendars/ appointments and telephone calls/handling of office requests and queries, as well as assist in the execution of Chamber functions.
