Re-election of Cyprus to the International Maritime Organisation (IMO) Council

The International Maritime Organisation (IMO) held its General Assembly on Friday, 1 December 2017, in London, where Cyprus was re-elected as a Member of the IMO Council for a further two years.

The Cyprus Shipping Chamber warmly congratulates the Cyprus Maritime Administration and particularly, the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works and the Department of Merchant Shipping for this significant achievement.

This re-election to the International Maritime Organisation Council, whose main work is to create a regulatory framework for the Shipping Industry globally, is of great significance, as in this way, it gives Cyprus the opportunity to continue its active contribution in the drafting of International Shipping Policy, as well as to promote the interests of Cyprus Shipping internationally
