CSC joins the International Chamber of Shipping Centenary Celebrations

The Cyprus Shipping Chamber, participated among a large number of shipowners and shipmanagers’ associations from across the globe, to the Centenary Celebrations of the International Chamber of Shipping (ICS) between 20-23 June, in London, in view of its 100 Years Anniversary since its establishment. The Chamber is a proud member of ICS for 29 years, where it actively represents the Cyprus Shipping Industry and promotes Cyprus’s positions on all ICS policy making committees, including the ICS Board, whilst supporting ICS’s efforts to represent the ship owning community at bodies such as the International Maritime Organisation (IMO). The celebrations involved a special Centenary dinner followed by the ‘Shaping the Future of Shipping’ Summit the next day, bringing together supply chain decision-makers to discuss on the challenges pertaining to Shipping’s green transition.

The Chamber congratulates ICS for this momentum milestone, leading the way in shaping the future of the International Shipping Industry for 100 years through its influential role, on all technical, legal, employment affairs and trade policy issues that impact Shipping. The Cyprus Shipping Chamber commits to continue its active involvement in the ICS and with its team of experts contributes to the ICS mission for an even more efficient, sustainable and brighter future for international shipping.

In addition, Chamber’s President and ICS Vice-Chairman, Mr. Themis Papadopoulos and Director General, Mr. Thomas A. Kazakos, represented the Cyprus Shipping Industry at the Annual General Meeting held on 23 June, reviewing a great number of important regulatory and policy developments affecting global Shipping. During the General Meeting, the President of the Cyprus Shipping Chamber, Mr. Themis Papadopoulos, who whilst still serving as ICS Vice-Chairman, was re-elected for another term of office as ICS Board Member.
