The Chamber acts as a lobbying group for the promotion and safeguard of the legitimate interests of its Member-Companies, at national and international level. On the local front, the Chamber co-operates very closely with the Government in all shipping related matters and has become an influential body when policy decisions concerning shipping matters are taken by the Government.
The Chamber also cooperates with numerous local professional organisations, in an effort to improve and constantly enhance the shipping infrastructure of Cyprus. Moreover, the Chamber operates (internationally) as a roving ambassador of Cyprus Shipping through its membership and active participation at the International Chamber of Shipping (ICS), the European Community Shipowners’ Associations (ECSA) and the Baltic and International Maritime Council (BIMCO) as well as a member of the Shipping Deputy Ministry delegation at International Maritime Organisation (IMO) meetings.
At the same time, the Shipping Chamber continues its work on “Navigating Cyprus Worldwide”, by promoting and enhancing the Cyprus flag as a highly reputable ship Registry that fully undertakes its international responsibilities with respect to quality shipping, marine safety and protection of the environment.
