The Chamber acts as a lobbying group and influential body for the promotion and safeguard of the legitimate interests of its Member-Companies, at national and international level.
Locally it works closely with the Cyprus Government and key professional bodies and internationally, the Chamber actively represents Cyprus Shipping through its active involvement in major global organisations such as ICS, ECSA, BIMCO, and the IMO.
As a result of this very active involvement, both at national and international level, the Chamber is able to offer its Members a constant source of up-to-date legislative, technical and commercial shipping information and advice.
Members of the Chamber by joining and attending its Committees and Monthly Members meetings are able to get valuable information on the Industry and support the Chamber in the development, establishment and submission of important Industry positions through these internal Committees.
Among other activities, the Chamber hosts its high-level Annual General Meeting, Monthly Members’ Meetings, and co-organises the Maritime Cyprus Conference with the Cyprus Shipping Deputy Ministry, providing networking and promotion of Cyprus Shipping and its Member-Companies.
Organising social functions, including the prestigious Official Dinner and Members-only Dinner Dance, providing a forum to showcase the Chamber’s aims and activities in Cyprus and abroad.
Longstanding educational activities include the widely recognised ‘Adopt-a-Ship’ Programme, promoting maritime education and careers, Cyprus-wide participation in career fairs, and providing information to the public about employment opportunities in the wider shipping sector, including careers at sea.
Launched in 2024 the “Cyprus Shipping Cares”, aspires to strengthen the Chamber’s social impact as “Shipping, does not only carry Cargo and Passengers, but also carries Messages of Social Solidarity and Support” and reinforce its commitment to giving back to the community of Cyprus.
The Annual General Meeting (AGM) is the Chamber’s key high level business event, featuring high-calibre speakers and attended by government officials, diplomats, and Members.
Every month, the Chamber organises a ‘Members’ Meeting’ in Limassol, featuring informative presentations on current shipping and business topics.
This is the most significant business and social function organised by the Chamber. Introduced in 2009 has since been established as the “Annual Social Must”.
The Chamber organises blood donation drives twice a year, with participation from all its member companies, donating blood to support the local community.
